About Provigo Inc
For more than forty years, Provigo has proudly served Quebecers and shared their passion for food. Provigo was founded in 1969 by four business partners: Antoine Turmel, René Provost, Jean-Louis Lamontagne and J.-Arthur Tremblay. Their vision? Create a company in the food sector that is both modern and local, which would meet the needs of consumers. They worked tirelessly to make it a reality.
Focused on customer service, Provigo has seen its wholesale and retail operations explode; its supermarket banners Provigain, Provibec and Provipop quickly became known. Over time, Provigo acquired other supermarket chains, including Les Aubaines Alimentaires in 1972, Jato in 1975, Dionne in 1977, Dominion and Raymond in 1979, A&P Montréal in 1984 and a few Steinberg stores in 1992. Provigo had become the largest food retailer in Quebec and one of its greatest flagships.
In 1998, Provigo joined the ranks of Loblaw Companies Limited (hereinafter Loblaw). Our commitment to you, the customer, is the same. Offering quality and freshness remains as important to us as ever; This is why we continue to support local products. Our new innovative concepts, like Provigo Le Marché, offer a unique shopping experience that reflects the tastes and expectations of Quebec consumers who are passionate about food. Products from our President's Choice®, PC Blue Menu®, PC Black Collection® and No Name® brands are as tasty as they are affordable. Plus, since we're all busy, Provigo offers a range of prepared meals that make your life easier.
Furthermore, our commitment to the communities we serve remains unwavering. The President's Choice Children's Foundation helps children excel by holding in-store fundraisers. In addition, Provigo works closely with local food banks so that everyone can benefit from healthy communities where life is good.
